Title: ICA Stewards of the Land Pasture Walk

The Iowa Cattlemen’s Association has planned a pasture walk on Thursday, August 3 near Garden Grove.

The educational evening will include information on improving soil health with managed grazing, a grazing stick demonstration, a fencing demonstration, and a tour of a diversified grazing system.

Linda Shumate, ICA Grazing Advisor, will host the event, as part of the Stewards of the Land program. The Stewards of the Land program is intended to improve grazing practices in Iowa while simultaneously providing environmental benefits, such as improved soil health and water quality. The program is grant funded by the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) with additional support from the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association, the Iowa Cattlemen’s Foundation and Prairie Creek Seed.

The pasture walk will be held at the 2XL Cattle Company, LLC, owned by Glenn and Michelle Kreuder and Drs. Adam and Amanda Krull. Erika Lundy from the Iowa Beef Center and Jeff Mathias, NRCS, will both be on hand to answer questions. JanLee Rowlett, ICA Government and Regulatory Affairs Manager, will give an update on the association. Other speakers include Ernest Weaver and Daryn Yoder from Byron Seeds and Mike and Sharon Fries from MSF Farms, LLC.
