ICA thanks Governor Reynolds following her announcement to forego seeking re-election

| April 11, 2025

From the moment she took office, Governor Reynolds has been a steadfast champion for Iowa’s cattle industry and Iowa agriculture.

The very first bill she signed into law supported Iowa farmers’ efforts to improve conservation infrastructure on agricultural land, guaranteeing tens of millions of dollars for water quality.

Since then, she has signed numerous bills into law supporting Iowa cattlemen. Just last year, she signed the Meat Integrity Act, which protects real beef against mislabeled alternative protein products. She also signed a tax bill that excludes capital gain from the sale of breeding livestock for individual income tax purposes, saving Iowa producers more than $18 million over the next five years.

Under her leadership, $2,983,000 has been raised for the Ronald McDonald Charities of Iowa through the Governor’s Charity Steer Show.

“We have had a true advocate for agriculture and our cattle producers in Governor Reynolds,” said Iowa Cattlemen’s Association President Rob Medberry. “She has been highly engaged, accessible, and genuine in her interest to hear our concerns and discuss solutions. I realize that not all states are as fortunate. The Iowa Cattlemen’s Association extends a sincere thank you to Governor Reynolds; she will leave big shoes to fill.”

The Iowa Cattlemen’s Association applauds Governor Reynolds, one of the most pro-agriculture Governors in state history, and looks forward to working with her as she finishes her term.
